This is my last pair of eyeglasses. I’ve been wearing glasses for 12 years, and my complex myopic astigmatism had worsened over time. Living day-to-day relying on eyeglasses or contacts to understand everything around me was a constant struggle. There are activities I’d enjoy even more without the hassle of glasses or contacts, like swimming, running, or working out. Not to mention, the cost of eyeglasses and contacts is very expensive. Since my eye prescription was unstable, I had to get my eyes checked every six months or whenever I suspected my headaches were caused by my glasses.
Hence, I decided to undergo eye surgery to stop spending so much on glasses and contacts. At first, I was scared, and since it was a sudden decision, I even considered canceling my appointment, worrying that I had acted on impulse. It was a big deal for me because it involved my eyes, it was costly, and I was terrified of eye surgery. But I’m thankful I shifted my focus to the positives, which far outweighed the negatives.
Now, it’s been a month since my eye surgery, and I’m incredibly grateful I went through with it. I can see clearly, I can exercise without glasses, and I can finally enroll in a swimming class without needing to wear glasses for every session. I’m really happy I did it, and I’m taking better care of my vision.
