Exploring the tapestry of life one post at a time

Embrace What Is

Posted on March 30, 2025November 3, 2025 By xosolis

Life has a way of shifting the people around us—sometimes closer, sometimes further away. Relationships, no matter how strong, are not immune to change. And as much as we try to hold on, there comes a time when we realise that not everything needs to be held together.

Through reflection, I found words to capture this journey—the quiet realisations, the lessons in acceptance, and the peace that comes with letting things be. Because sometimes, growth isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about understanding when to release what no longer fits.

1. When You Start Seeing Things Differently

There are moments in life when we look at someone and realise that they are not quite who we once thought they were. Not necessarily in a bad way—just different. Growth doesn’t always happen in parallel; sometimes, paths that once aligned begin to drift apart.

“I held the thought of who you’d be, but now, I hold none.”

And that’s okay. People grow in their own way, and the most freeing thing we can do is let go of expectations and allow them to be exactly who they are.

2. When You No Longer Feel the Need to Hold On

There is a quiet kind of relief in recognising that you no longer need to carry the weight of something that isn’t yours alone to hold. Some connections require constant effort, and when that effort is one-sided, it’s natural to step back.

“What once was mine to hold together— can break, can fade, can go unfixed.”

Not every relationship needs fixing. Some are meant to shift, loosen, or fade, and that’s not a failure—it’s just life unfolding as it should.

3. When You Choose Forgiveness, Without Expectation

Healing doesn’t mean forcing things back to how they were. Sometimes, it’s about making peace with the past while allowing the future to unfold however it may.

“You’ll try, I’ll try—we’ll see what holds, and if it doesn’t, we’ll let it rest.”

Forgiveness isn’t always about returning to what was—it’s about moving forward with understanding, whether together or apart.

The Lesson: Growth Means Allowing Change

Looking back, I don’t feel anger. I don’t feel regret. What I feel is gratitude for the lesson.

I’ve learned that:

✅ It’s okay to loosen your grip on relationships that no longer align.

✅ Some things are meant to change, and that doesn’t make them any less meaningful.

✅ Closure isn’t about getting answers—it’s about making peace with what is.

Some connections evolve, and some naturally fade. But in all cases, we move forward lighter, wiser, and with space for the people and experiences that truly align with us. And that is something to be grateful for.

Allow what’s meant to stay, to stay.
